I´ve just finished reading a fascinating book in English called “The Client”, written by John Grisham, one of the most popular American writers. Another of his books is “The Pelican Brief” which became an excellent film with Julia Roberts, one of my favourite actresses.
The main characters are Mark, a boy who is eleven years old, his yourger brother Ricky and Reggie Love, an unusual lawyer.
The story is set in Memphis, Tennessee, where Mark lives with his mother and his yourger brother in a trailer.Mark is only eleven but he has had to grow up fast to look after himself and his family. By chance he knows a terrible secret about a murder that gets him into dangerous trouble. Mark has to make some difficult decisions to stay alive and to protect his family. So he needs that somebody helps him fast...
The Client is an intriguing and gripping thriller that keeps you in suspense all the time.
The author who worked at the beginning as a lawyer , later became a politician and finally he went on to write amazing and interesting books in which most of his ideas came from some of his cases, has wanted to reflect on this book how terribly unfair a society, its laws and their representatives can get to be with the poorest and the most disadvantaged people.
In conclusion, I have to say that The Client has been an easy book to read but so absorbing and exciting that has caught my attention from the beginning and I couldn´t put it down till the end.
